Julian Xheko

Principal, Process Engineer

Photo of Julian

Julian’s decades of experience in water and wastewater engineering has exposed him to a broad range of projects and challenges in different areas and environments of the world including Canada, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Pacific region. At Stantec, he serves as the regional wastewater practice leader for Western Canada.

Working on wastewater treatment always takes you to beautiful water bodies, and for Julian those sights push him to work hard to preserve or even improve them. He was involved with the design of the Plant D Bonnybrook WWTP for both the secondary treatment train (bioreactor and secondary clarifiers) as well as the thermal hydrolysis process—the first of its kind in Alberta. He is currently involved with several projects including the upgrade and expansion of the Fish Creek WWTP and the conversion of the train 11 of Gold Bar WWTP in Edmonton, Alberta, from a conventional biological nutrient removal (BNR) system to a membrane bioreactor (MBR) BNR.

Outside of work, Julian’s passion for water bodies extends to the ocean, and everything related to it: swimming, sailing, snorkeling, and fishing. One day, he hopes to sail the whole northern Mediterranean with his daughter.
