Championing a city’s aggressive climate action plan
When the City of Fort Collins came up with their bold climate action plan (CAP) to target carbon neutrality by 2050, they needed the right partner to help put their plan into motion. They found that partner in us.
Our project team began by designing the City’s new utilities administration building to not only support the CAP, but also provide district-scale net positive energy and sustain healthy, productive occupants. As the city's utility provider, a main driver for the project was to showcase a commitment to energy efficiency and environmental and resource stewardship.
Along with industry collaborators, we focused on developing the perfect combination of building system technologies for this project. Remaining budget-conscious, we applied innovative solutions to the exterior walls. And the result? A reduction of energy use and an increase in abundant daylight and thermal comfort for occupants. This project is the first city building (and fourth building of any type) in the world to achieve LEED v4 Platinum certification.
