Site of former power generation plant provides home for new operations and maintenance facility
With increasing ridership and anticipating growth in transit services, the City of Commerce needed an operations and maintenance facility to match. While the existing facility had served Commerce well for nearly 30 years, expanding operations and infrastructure needs related to the transition to zero emission buses drove the need for a new one. They reached out to our team to help.
We are providing architectural, interior design, structural, industrial design, civil, survey, and landscape architectural services for the new facility. Located on the site of a former power generation plant, which will be repurposed and rebuilt with resiliency in mind, the project will consist of an administration and operations building, maintenance facility, site improvements for staff/visitor parking, and on-site fueling and washing. The administration and operations building will house offices, a training room, a drivers’ room, and restrooms and lockers. The maintenance facility will include repair bays, training spaces, material storage, and maintenance support spaces.
When complete, the new facility will help Commerce meet its future transit needs while transitioning to zero-emission vehicles.
