Helping spur economic growth in the surrounding community
Located in the center of Tampa, a developer owned an increasingly appreciating plot of land that was not matching the surrounding districts in terms of upkeep and amenities. Cue Midtown Tampa, a 20-acre (8-hectare) project between Tampa’s downtown and Westshore districts.
This project integrates 1.8 million square feet (167,225 square metres) of mixed-use development for office, retail, hotel, and residential uses—much of which is vertically integrated in a walkable district setting. In addition to serving as the civil engineer for the overall project master infrastructure, our team served as the civil engineer for five different parcels, each with its own developer.
Midtown Tampa is supported by $20 million of infrastructure investment, 2,500 parking spaces (structured and on-street), and a new internal road network. An additional 2.5 miles (4 kilometres) of walking paths amplify the walkability and pedestrian experience. A stormwater retention pond on site is now the 3-acre (1.2-hectare) Midtown Lake, creating a beautiful community amenity surrounded by nature trails and an adjacent dog park.
Our team successfully balanced the needs of each developer as well as the master developer to help everything came together as a cohesive district. Now complete, this project is one of the most centrally located neighborhoods in Tampa, with a wide range of amenities and activities for the surrounding community.
