Enhancing patient experience with well-lit waiting areas, a pleasant garden, and valet parking
“Successful cancer care means allowing patients to do the things that they want to do.” Ephraim Casper, Medical Director of Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) Regional Care Network goes on to explain how locating their facility more conveniently for their patients helps those people receive treatments and go on with their day. Convenience means less disruption.
MSK Harrison is a new care center converted from a former Verizon site into a state-of-the-art ambulatory care facility. With 140 cancer surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, and other health professionals, they work hard to make every patient’s experience as pleasant and unobtrusive as possible.
Besides having medical, surgical, and radiation oncology spaces, there’s radiology, dermatology, a clinical lab, a pharmacy, and infusion. And with an eye to enhancing the patient experience, they put in a garden, multiple well-lit waiting areas, and valet parking.
While cancer care is the facility’s primary objective, its design also respects the surrounding environment. Seeking LEED Gold certification, MSK Harrison has already received NYSERDA rebates for energy efficiency.
