Protecting and maintaining our open spaces
Forest preserves are a fundamental part of our communities. Not only do they offer opportunities for recreation, research, and learning, they also provide immeasurable benefits to the surrounding community by supporting recreation, clean air and water, stormwater management, and natural habitats for countless plants and animals.
We’ve has been supporting the Forest Preserve of Cook County for over 10 years to maintain and enhance their resources that provide nearly 70,000 acres (28,328 hectares) of open space across the Chicagoland area. How do we do it? Our team of environmental and ecosystem professionals carefully monitor the varied wetland, prairie, woodlands, and waterways in these spaces, and determine what services will help these habitats thrive–such as prescribed burning, invasive vegetation management, and brush clearing. By removing invasive species, these spaces achieve higher quality native growth, improving ecological health, water quality, and biodiversity. Our environmental support also helps reduce flooding and increased access and usability for the community.
