Supporting Chicago's increased electricity needs
To meet increased electricity needs in the Chicago metro area, Ameren built a new 138kV transmission line from North LaSalle to Ottawa, which follows a 35 mile long agricultural and urban corridor. Our environmental services team supported this project by providing routing and siting, wetland delineations, rare species habitat assessments, environmental permitting, erosion control inspections, and compliance monitoring.
Stantec worked behind the scene, providing knowledge and support for the complex permitting and approval process. This included environmental and geographic information system services to help gain regulatory approvals and expert testimony support for the Illinois Commerce Commission Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity hearings. Stantec completed the USACE Section 404 Permit application and biological assessments to satisfy U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service consultation requirements, conducting all environmental field surveys required to complete the permit applications.
During the construction and restoration of the project, our compliance specialists worked directly with contractors and Ameren staff to ensure all work complied with the project stormwater pollution prevention plan.
