Embracing ecotourism, this park is part of to the Greater Montreal's Green and Blue Network
With the goal of transforming Sainte-Thérèse Island into a metropolitan park, the City of Varennes and its partners collaborated with our Urban Places team to produce a master development plan to guide them through the transformation process.
Our multidisciplinary team first carried out an analysis to identify challenges and potential ideas with respect to the island's history, archaeology, landscape, natural environment, and mobility. The team then proposed a vision, a concept, and an action plan to create the future park, all keeping in a sustainable development perspective. The resulting master plan proposes to transform the island into a unique destination combining recreation, ecotourism, nature conservation and the celebration of the island's rich societal history.
When complete, this park will offer agrotourism activities, a long shoreline trail, and winding paths running through the heart of the island. Visitors will be able to enjoy scenic lookouts, observation towers, culverts and interpretive panels that allow them to appreciate the coastal landscapes, historical remains, and the rich natural environment of this beautiful area.
