Patrick’s 26 years of experience has given him insight into designing and planning for educational institutions of all types and sizes. He goes beyond the structures themselves to help clients reimagine their internal processes to maximize their new facilities, and has developed and implemented several successful campus master plans. Helping clients see their vision integrated into the projects is one of his greatest pleasures.
Patrick was an essential part of the Mary Idema Pew Library Learning and Information Commons project at Grand Valley State University. He helped translate complex operational, space, and process development needs into a program that meshed with the design to create a spectacular, well-functioning space. Since its opening in late 2013, more than 1,000,000 people have used the space every year—equating to an average 40 visits for every student on campus.
When Patrick is not at work he spends time with his wife, his teenage daughter, and pre-teen son. He is a member of the Berkley Area Chamber of Commerce Board and leads the Royal Oak First United Methodist Church Master Plan Committee. He also loves to get outside to travel and explore nature and hopes to someday restore the vintage 1970 VW Beetle Convertible sitting in his garage.
