Delivering value through innovation, collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and shared knowledge for Queensland communities

Urban Utilities is one of the largest water-distributor retailers in Australia. As the utility transforms to better serve their customers, we’ve been a driving force within their integrated engineering services (IES) program. Our team’s primary responsibility is to oversee all pre-market activities related to water and sewer network projects and working closely with Urban Utilities.

Since 2019, we’ve been delivering multiple water and sewer business cases in a partnership that helps Urban Utilities invest in the right capital and defer or cancel unnecessary spending—keeping the focus on reducing capital cost and ultimately benefiting their end client: the community. We foster a strong sense of collaboration and innovation by actively training and upskilling not only Urban Utilities employees, but also staff from other IES partners in various modelling software. Supporting growth in people is important, and to foster a culture of knowledge sharing, we work alongside them in an environment that encourages cross-team collaboration.

Our collaborative efforts and close stakeholder engagement have taken us further on our journey with the IES group, evolving and expanding into creating water and sewer projects. We help Urban Utilities assign capital where it can be best used, contributing value to the integrated planning process—which shapes the long-term capital investment direction for sewer catchments and water zones throughout their service territory.
