Looking to keep Australia’s hottest international winter arts festival safe

Recognised as Australia’s hottest international winter arts festival, Darwin Festival shines brightly on the national events calendar. It attracts audiences from interstate and around the world while still retaining its strong Darwin community origin. To accommodate the festival’s growing audience and attendance requirements, temporary structures are installed for the duration of the festival and include several iconic open-air venues. Northern Territory regulations require that these structures have an occupancy permit to demonstrate that they are safe for use and compliant with relevant standards.

Over the years, The Darwin Festival Limited has engaged our building certifiers to complete the site inspections and to prepare and submit this certification. This process includes compliance checks in accordance with the National Construction Code (NCC) and other relevant standards, including the Northern Territory of Australia Building Act. Our team is responsible for liaising with contractors installing structures to rectify any identified issues and with the Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service, completing site inspections prior to issuing the occupancy permit.

As a result of our careful attention to safety, the community can enjoy the festival knowing that the structures are certified as safe.
