New facility allows city services to grow with its population

Faced with a growing population, the City of Parker needed to expand their Public Works Facility to better serve the community today and well into the future. They reached out to our team to provide architecture, interior, lighting, and sustainable design services and manage the entire design team.

From the facility to the surrounding site, we kept sustainability at the forefront of our design. Our inclusion of natural daylighting throughout all shop and administrative spaces, combined with the LED lighting fixtures, reduces the overall energy consumption by approximately 60 percent compared to the regional energy use index average for this project type.

The sloping site required extensive grading, resulting in a flat site at the level of the roads, with a higher area of retained earth at the north and west sides. Approximately half the site is paved, with the rest divided between gravel and landscaped areas. Stormwater is captured in two detention ponds along Hess Road and the site is landscaped using native plant materials.

The Parker Public Works Facility houses an operations and administration building with space for multiple City departments and shared functions with Douglas County. With room to grow, the City of Parker can serve residents for years to come.
