Reducing traffic accidents starts with a thorough study
The Hillsboro Boulevard corridor had seen over 150 accidents over the past decade, most involving bicycles and pedestrians. The City of Deerfield Beach wanted to reduce the roadway from six to four lanes to provide traffic calming and create a safer pedestrian and bicycle use corridor with access to the beach area. To help with their petition to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), the City engaged our team as the price consultant for traffic study services.
We conducted traffic data acquisition and a signalization study, developed 35 years of projections, and provided a full level of service analysis. Additionally, we produced an access management plan with roadway concept plans. Stantec also provided safety and ADA compliance improvements for the corridor.
The City presented the results to FDOT and received approval six months from the study’s initial notice to proceed, allowing the City to design and construct the improvements.
