Working together to facilitate construction of this solar energy project and reduce reliance on fossil fuels
The Hickory Park Solar Project was developed to provide a source of renewable energy to the electric grid, reducing reliance on fossil fuels for energy production in Georgia and the southeastern United States. Our team was engaged from initial site assessment, permitting, and pre-construction to facilitate construction of this solar energy project.
We performed a critical issues analysis (CIA) to determine whether the site would be suitable for solar development and identify concerns to be addressed during permitting and development. Field work was completed following the CIA, including a delineation of wetlands across 1,800 acres of farmland, timber operations, and natural areas. We also completed an assessment confirming contaminated areas were not located within the project area and a cultural resource field survey to identify any potential significant cultural resources. Our team then assisted with federal, state, and local permitting, along with a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit for authorization to clear the site. This included a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permit for unavoidable stream crossings and impacts associated with clearing a corridor to connect to the nearest substation—we completed site inspections for the initial land clearing.
Once complete, the site will provide 195 megawatts of power to approximately 2.6 million customers.
