Accommodating the construction of a new diagnostics and treatment facility at Grossmont Hospital
Grossmont Hospital’s eastern tower needed a makeover. The challenge was to renovate a functional nursing unit with minimal disruption to ongoing services. Our team operated with one core value—optimal patient care.
The proposed construction of a new Diagnostics and Treatment facility meant that the site needed a seismic upgrade. This meant reinforcing 24 foundation footings and partial demolition in the East Tower, which housed support services, central processing, the morgue, and materials management. Together with the client, we developed a plan that would keep these critical operations running and accommodate construction.
We also took on a four-floor, 164-bed interior renovation project, upgrading the patient care units, elevators, and electrical systems. Conversion of the double occupancy patient rooms to single bed set-ups with bathrooms increased patient privacy.
This plan not only resulted in updated interiors and additional amenities, but also enhanced staff workflows for greater efficiency. Together with Grossmont hospital, we helped set up a healthy and comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
