A new corporate campus offers amenities and a chance to create a new corporate culture
Employees were scattered among a Dallas headquarters and Plano support offices. Our client was looking for a way to bring their 1,200 corporate staff together under one roof. That roof came in the form of a Corporate Headquarters, which opened in late 2015 and is located on former JCPenny Co. land in West Plano.
The corporate campus features offices, a fitness center, a full-service kitchen and café, meeting space, a mock store on the ground floor, as well as lab spaces. Unique features include a combination backup and emergency power system and an open-concept stairway with fire shutters to address fire safety.
Our MEP team handled both the design of the 265,000-square-foot (24,600-metre) core and shell building and the interiors package (in collaboration with a separate architectural firm) for this major project. Real estate development firm KDC (the same firm behind Toyota’s North American headquarters and State Farm Insurance’s regional hub) handled the development.
Through our MEP design work, we were able to provide an infrastructure that supports each of the various employee groups and their functions and create the setting for a more unified corporate culture.
