We took the site from concept through to completion on behalf of Tesco
Originally appointed by the landowner, our job was to deliver a new, retail-led gateway development on previously sterile land to the south of the town of Crediton, Devon. Constrained by traffic impact, air quality, and flooding, we worked with stakeholder and consultees to see the allocation and consent for this major retail development.
As expected, the development introduced additional traffic along an already congested corridor which was designated as an air quality management area. Through our work on transport and air quality, we were able to determine that the mixed-use scheme would not significantly affect the air quality issues in the town.
Located next to the existing railway station, the site also delivered new public transport service as well as walking and cycling facilities which link the site to the town and surrounding areas. Development on the site was also linked to delivery of the Lords Meadow Link Road, which has opened further development areas on the south side of the town, and provided much-needed traffic relief to the town. We worked alongside Devon County Council through the design development and funding of this new route.
We provided engineering and environmental support throughout the planning representations, planning application, and delivery of the highway works.
