Site inspections to keep 150 damaged rural municipalities safe
With 150 rural municipalities damaged from floods, the province of Manitoba needed help assessing what would need to be done to get things back in safe, working order—we worked with the Manitoba Emergency Measures Organization (MEMO) to help.
To start, inspection work needed to be done to document and quantify flood related damage, and to provide repair recommendations and costs associated with restoration of damaged roads, bridges, culverts, and other infrastructure to their pre-flood condition. For more complex sites with significant damage or complex infrastructure, a detailed engineering assessment and site damage report was completed. This included specialty flood damaged sites, like a bird sanctuary, where we incorporated specialized environmental scientists into our team—in total, we performed over 21,000 site inspections across Manitoba.
With a shared goal of restoring communities impacted by floods or other natural disasters, our relationship with MEMO has grown and strengthened over the years––the partnership we have formed will help reestablish those vulnerable sites in the area, keeping people and vital community links safe for years to come.
