Cogeco was improving its existing coax infrastructure with a state of the art fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network using GPON technology. To support this major build, Cogeco engaged many design and construction firms to provide design and construction services.
Our job was to manage construction of 71 distribution areas in partnership with Trinity Construction. As project managers, we supported design, permitting, and construction of the feeders and distribution area, and we also completed testing and acceptance coordination.
On a short timeline, we completed design and prepared all permit applications to the municipality as required. Permits were approved within a couple of weeks thanks to the great relationships that our people had built with the local communities.
Within six months, all 71 distribution areas were complete, and Cogeco was ready to deploy their updated network.
