A concert venue that can accommodate even the biggest productions
Truly a signature project for the City of Trois-Rivières, the Cogeco Amphitheatre is a concert venue that can accommodate even the largest local, national, and international productions. Located on an enchanting site at the junction of the St. Lawrence and St-Maurice Rivers, the amphitheatre has become a major tourist destination for the Trois-Rivières region since its inauguration. With its 9,000-spectator capacity, the amphitheatre can now seat 3,500 in a section in front of the stage and has place for 5,500 seated on a grassy section behind the stage.
Our team participated in the civil and buildings engineering for the structural, mechanical and electrical aspects in connection with the amphitheatre’s construction.
Central to the design is the massive 80,730-square foot roof resting on eight narrow columns, creating the illusion of a structure floating above the landscape. Lateral weather barriers on either side of the seated section complete the protection offered against extreme weather conditions.
The technical characteristics of the facility allow for the production of even the most modern shows, fitting in seamlessly with the site’s architecture.
This project took home the 2015 Jury Favourite prize awarded by the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction, in recognition of the amphitheatre’s elegance and scope.
