Raising awareness through campaigns on road safety, gender equality, and the empowerment of women
Mozambique has embarked on a transformative journey with PROMOVE, an integrated approach with the European Union and part of the Programa Quinquenal do Governo 2020–2024 (PQG). A comprehensive rural development strategy, PROMOVE encourages key sectors such as transportation, energy, agriculture, biodiversity, and nutrition. The success of the PQG, a detailed five-year program, hinges on the PROMOVE program.
In a joint effort, the European Commission and Mozambique’s national government have entrusted our Belgium team with driving the PROMOVE initiative. The team will achieve this by launching awareness-raising campaigns centered on road safety and gender equality, initiating promotional activities, and building capacity for rural infrastructure to enhance rural transport services. The project gives precedence to the employment of recent female graduates, designating them as trainee supervisors to help supervise certain measures of PROMOVE, such as the refurbishment of minor social infrastructure and the development of facilities at bus and truck stops.
PROMOVE, aiming for sustainable growth, poverty reduction, and climate resilience, aligns with PQG’s goals for community upliftment and economic resilience.
