Unlocking a complex, inner-city site to create a wellbeing community for Queenslanders
Aging facilities and the underutilized potential of a beautiful heritage precinct meant that Herston Quarter was prime real estate in need of redevelopment. The goal? Creating a world-class health and wellbeing precinct, to deliver specialist surgical and rehabilitation services, allied health services, aged care, medical education, and cutting-edge research facilities.
Stantec was engaged by Metro North Hospital and Health Services (MNHHS) as technical advisors. Our job? To provide the technical leadership, advice and risk management required for the $1.1 billion Herston Quarter Project at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH) campus. The integrated health campus will enhance the unique heritage assets situated on the site, opening them up to the community after being dormant for years, and will establish a focal point for superior health care delivery. The Surgical, Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS) is the first phase of works.
Upon completion, Brisbane will have a modern and integrated health facility Queenslanders can rely on for decades to come.
“Stantec have demonstrated a proactive approach to their business, attention to detail and commitment to delivering sound technical advice which is complimented with their practical approach to considering MNHHS’ risk profile. With a people-oriented culture, Stantec’s professional personnel provide responsive interaction with Stakeholders, Authorities and the Developer which enables smoother and more efficient resolution of technical matters.” Mark Reardon (MNHHS)
