Dulwich Hill Station Streetscape Improvements

Commuter stations can be considered an urban utility, but that doesn’t mean they are purely utilitarian. When the Inner West Council saw need to upgrade the T3 Bankstown line to match Sydney Metro standards, they called upon our experience in transportation and urban design and planning. As demographics, and mobility needs change, commuter stations, and their influence in the surrounding community, become more important.

The key outcomes were to improve pedestrian access and connections to the station and enhance the surrounding streetscape for safety and aesthetics. New walking links to key transportation nodes and open spaces will strategically connect local and regional transportation networks. Streetscape upgrades include tree planting, multi-purpose lighting, new pavements, and improved pedestrian and cyclist movements.

As commuter stations are such visibly public projects, it’s no surprise a big part of our role was liaison and consultation with a range of stakeholders. As well as working on the designs for the precinct we were also responsible for obtaining approvals for utility designs, replying to stakeholder feedback, proving tender support, and providing construction advisory.
