As a climatologist with extensive climate risk assessment experience, Norman creates tailored solutions to help communities manage risks related to extreme weather conditions and climate uncertainty.
Norm has extensive experience in the climate field—through teaching, research, climate analytics and projections, risk assessments (using Engineers Canada’s PIEVC Protocol and other methodologies that conform to international ISO standards), facilitating stakeholder engagement, and workshop delivery. He has a background in meteorology, and while working on his doctorate at the University of Victoria, he partnered with community and industry leaders to help local communities and industry mitigating risks caused by extreme weather events. Norman is an experienced researcher who has written reports for many federal, provincial, and international clients. He earned his PhD at the University of Victoria and was a postdoctoral research associate at the Pacific Climate Impacts Consortium.
A dedicated runner, Norm won the Port Alberni Half-Marathon in 2017.
