As an urban planner, Joe works on planning projects that range in context from long-range visioning to near-term reconstruction. No matter the project, his motivation is to provide the best possible service to our clients so they can better serve their communities. He creates public engagement tools to get to the heart of what people want and need from their community and provides illustrated guidance for how to achieve those goals.
His worksites range from urban districts to suburban corridors and rural waterways in Minnesota and elsewhere. Joe recently whipped-up a tabletop model to help neighbors understand the concept behind a planned underpass in their community. He also became a point-person for cultivating public engagement through the pandemic using accessible virtual platforms.
Joe likes to draw by hand and stylus and uses those skills to communicate complex issues in ways that can be understood by professionals and the public. He’s also an avid cyclist and isn’t sure how many times he’s biked across Iowa.
