Timely geotechnical advice helps traffic return to normal after slope failure
During intense rainfall, ground destabilisation can occur and result in landslides and slips. Following damaging rainfall events within the Wollondilly Shire region of New South Wales, the Remembrance Drive slope remediation project was triggered as part of a broader suite of emergency response works. Wollondilly Shire Council engaged us to provide two slope remediation reports which significantly contributed to the successful execution of the overall project.
Providing geotechnical design services for two slope failures along Remembrance Drive north of the Mount Hercules Road intersection was our primary objective. Our team assisted with onsite geotechnical advice regarding slip works to allow for road opening and functionality. We conducted preliminary site visits, undertook slope risk assessments, and reported on our findings—and we assessed former remediation designs and carried out new slope remediation design where necessary.
The result? We equipped our client with prompt and vital information, that helped them successfully construct and stabilise the damaged slopes. With roadside slopes restored and improved, vehicles can move safely on Remembrance Drive.
