A place that’s safe and secure, but also a home where students can feel like they belong
Students living away from home seek more than just a place to stay—they want a vibrant residence that offers a sense of belonging, equipped with modern amenities, safety, and security.
When Texas State University faced rising demand for student housing, the concept for the West Campus Residence Hall emerged. This facility would not only provide housing but also support education and recreation, creating a dynamic living-learning environment. They engaged us as part of the team to help make their vision a reality.
Although located on a compact site, the complex features three buildings and 578 beds. Two six-story buildings house the residence halls, while a third, two-story community building provides academic support and spaces for student activities. Each residence hall features social lounges with kitchenettes, study rooms, and informal gathering areas on every floor.
The community building offers a variety of resources including a multipurpose room, seminar rooms, and additional study spaces. An art lab and several open, informal social areas further enhance the student experience. Outside, three courtyards provide spaces for studying and socializing, complete with sand volleyball courts and barbecue pits—offering a balanced mix of recreation, social engagement, and quiet reflection.
Blending seamlessly with the campus architecture, this complex reflects the distinctive character of Texas State University while fostering a welcoming environment that helps students feel at home.
