Newington Power Plant

Keeping the lights on in Newington with this award-winning power plant

A project proven to be the best in its class

Fueling the activities of daily life, every power plant in the world has an impact on the community they exist in. That’s why, when it came time to build the Newington Power Plant, we made sure that impact was a positive one.

For this project, our initial design effort required a detailed accounting of all control and protection functions, some of which required relocation, and others that would be duplicated on the new breaker. In the end, we installed a purpose-built 18-kilovolt generator breaker in the bus between the generator and the generator step-up at this 525-megawatt combined cycle power plant.

Recognized as the “Best of the Best” in 2013 by the Combined Cycle Journal, this power plant will continue to keep the lights on in Newington for years to come.
