Updating a 55-year-old school while preserving its pride and history
In need of modern upgrades and creative additions, Spring Branch Independent School District passed a $898.4 million bond, approved by 80% of the vote, to transform its district. As part of the bond passage, Memorial High School received various renovations and additions. Spring Branch Independent School District hired our team to create a state-of-the-art campus on a small budget.
The project began with a master plan study that included parents, teachers, community members, and district leaders. The resulting plan covered the entire campus and was broken into Phase I (the current project) and Phase II (to be completed in the future). A challenge our team faced was that this is a landlocked campus with no room for growth. To address this, we crafted a solution to relocate tennis and the bus loop, freeing up space for a new 4-story building that houses 29 classrooms, 21 science labs and student dining. New amenities include sporting facilities, updated parking, and outdoor learning spaces. Our renovations included mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system upgrades, renovated bathrooms, safety upgrades, and revised traffic flow patterns for a safer campus.
With the project now complete, the new school elevates teaching, learning, and engagement to new heights in both design and functionality—creating a space that students and the community can be proud of.
