Logan International Airport – Rehabilitation of Taxiway A North
Logan International Airport is the largest airport in New England and one of the busiest airports in the US—and for more than two decades, our team has supported them with airside civil and electrical design as well as construction management services.
And when Taxiway Alpha North, the primary access route to Terminal E, needed rehabilitation, it was no surprise that the airport’s owners took advantage of our on-call contract and brought us in to help.
The project included rehabilitating approximately 2,600 linear feet of bituminous taxiway pavement in front of Terminal E and the northwest pier of Terminal C, including the intersection of two terminal alleyways and three taxiway intersections. The rehabilitation included improvements to longitudinal and transverse taxiway grades as well as removal of bituminous pavement that had extended beyond its design life.
We used warm mix asphalt pavement rather than the traditional hot mix asphalt pavement to promote sustainable construction practices. We also rehabilitated in-pavement taxiway lights and installed new high and low voltage ductbanks.
Over 30 million passengers travel through Logan International Airport each year. Rehabilitation projects like this ensure that those passengers have safe and comfortable experiences.
