Renovating an 1880s French Renaissance-style building
Jerusalem Venture Partners (JVP) were looking to design a cybersecurity investment hub in New York City. The location? A historically protected, French Renaissance style building, 462 Broadway, which was designed by John Correja in 1880. JVP brought in our team and partners Bohlin Cywinski Jackson (BCJ) Architects to deliver their vision—the International Cyber Center. One of the challenges of the renovation was to retain the building’s originality while artfully creating functional modern workspaces.
Our joint design included defining reception areas, conference rooms, open office workstations, enclosed offices, pantries/coffee bars, collaboration areas, and operational support spaces. Due to the diverse needs of the Cyber Center’s users, the architectural team had to design enclosed offices for privacy and focused conversations as well as flexible open workspaces for collaboration. A new interior stair, a tenant dedicated elevator, IT support spaces, and supplemental cooling were added as specialty services.
Completed in 2020, the JVP International Cyber Center will support up-and-coming cybersecurity companies with a variety of spaces to suit each group’s individual needs.
