This office space was designed to showcase local flavor, wellness, and innovation
This technology client was looking to provide its employees with a healthier work environment and decided to relocate its Midwest headquarters into a formerly windowless cold storage warehousing facility in the Fulton Market neighborhood. The new office design would reflect Chicago culture while emphasizing wellness in materials and light.
Stantec was selected to design a collaborative, inspiring, and sustainable workplace that lives up to the client’s employee-focused reputation. We explored elements of Chicago inspiration in the lobby, themed office and meeting spaces, micro-kitchens, game room, music studio, maker space and café. Collaboration drove design for a dedicated conference center floor with meeting and event space including production-grade audio/visual technology. Connectivity drove designers to create an atrium that punched through the building’s core, and walkability inspired a staircase extending from the 5th floor to the 11th floor green deck.
Surrounded by active retail, restaurants, and city life, the headquarters has been transformed into the neighborhood’s flagship tech office space and a symbol of neighborhood revitalization. This project achieved WELL Building, LEED v4 Gold Certification, and Living Building Challenge Petal Certification.
