Remediating a brownfield site and protecting the environment
To remediate this former Catskill MGP Site, an approximately 3.7-acre New York State brownfield site located along the banks of Catskill Creek, we prepared the remedial alternatives analysis for the site and completed the remedial design for our client, Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp. We delineated the impacted soil and developed the geotechnical drilling program, along with obtaining regulatory agency permitting.
As the remedial engineer, we completed the NYSDEC-approved remedial design and prepared technical specifications and engineering drawings for bidding. We then provided client support during contractor bidding and procurement as well as contractor oversight activities during remediation at the site. The remedial design consisted of two secant pile walls: one to be installed along the Creek (218 lin ft), and the other to support a 4-story building (163 lin ft). Approximately 3,500 tons of impacted sediments were dredged, and approximately 10,000 tons of impacted soils were excavated.
We have collected post-excavation soil samples following excavation activities and are now preparing the Final Engineering Report (FER) for the site.
