Serving over 250,000 households and gradually improving the water and environment in northern Taoyuan
When the Taoyuan City Government wanted to improve their wastewater sewerage system, they awarded a build-operate-transfer (BOT) contract to Rih Ding Water Co., Ltd. (RDW). The 35-year period of concession started in October 2012, and it aimed to improve the existing water quality of the local river and further enhance the quality of life for the community.
A wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) with total capacity of 200,000 cubic metres per day (CMD) and over 285 kilometres of sewerage will be established to collect and process sewage from over 250,000 households. The construction of system has been broken down into four phases and four household connection milestones, and it will be completed within 19 years after the contract signed by both parties.
We’ve been assisting RDW with design and construction management services for the wastewater sewerage system. To date, a WWTP with design capacity of 50,000 CMD has been erected, and 6,000 CMD of wastewater is being bio-processed using a membrane reactor for secondary non-potable usage (such as landscape irrigation).
The project team helped RDW to achieve the first milestone (29,655 households serviced at Phase 1), and the project is expected to achieve the second milestone as planned.
