Turning an old military base into a place for learning

It all started with the new land purchase of an old military base. With the integration of master planning and academic planning, a long-term strategic vision for this campus was realized.

We designed a comprehensive and complex retrofit to five of the existing buildings on the old base. These would form the heart of the new university campus. The buildings are knit together with a new atrium structure that connects the existing facilities, giving them a new life and purpose.

The new campus is designed to house kinesiology, early childhood education, dental and nursing training labs, wet and dry labs, general classrooms, student union, faculty offices, a performing arts studio theatre, a library, and an aboriginal gathering hall.

Canada Education Park represents a unified vision for revitalizing an 85-acre military site into a vibrant educational campus that benefits students and the entire community.
