Boosting connections and reducing congestion in Brisbane
Brisbane City Council has set out to transform the city’s transportation network with the future Brisbane Metro. Our strong understanding of the local utilities environment led us to support the Brisbane Move consortium on this major project.
We began by developing a utilities register, conflict matrix, and concept utility mitigation strategy, followed by utility coordination activities and a 3D utilities model designed for highly congested sites. Additionally, we reviewed Public Utilities Plant (PUP) survey data and classified it in accordance with applicable quality levels. Comparing this against the proposed project design, we produced existing and proposed PUP drawings to identify which will remain and which will be relocated.
With services expected to commence in 2024, the Brisbane Metro will become a key part of Brisbane’s greater transportation network, connecting the city to the suburbs through two new metro lines that link 18 stations along dedicated busways. These high-capacity, high-frequency services will boost connection, reduce congestion, and contribute to a greener Brisbane through use of all-electric vehicles.
