With over 28 years of electrical engineering experience, Tilman focuses on renewable energy, storage technology, electrical power generation, and grid design and operations, to ultimately deliver reliable electrical power to consumers.

Through his role as managing leader for Stantec’s Western Canada Energy team, Tilman is responsible for delivering high-quality client service and projects. He enjoys complex technical discussions and challenges, and learning from the varied knowledge and skills of his colleagues. With his team, Tilman supports clients, like utilities, on their journey to increase the supply and usage of clean electrical energy.

As part of his commitment to help develop the next generation of electrical engineers and designers, Tilman teaches a class on Applied Research Methods, Policies, and Ethics for the British Columbia Institute of Technology’s (BCIT) Master of Engineering in Smart Grid Systems and Technologies program. He further volunteers his time as part of the Industry Advisory Committee for BCIT’s Electrical Power program.

In his spare time, Tilman enjoys doing hands-on electrical work, whether it is building a computer or being the “on-call” electrical problem solver for friends and family. He also spends time supporting his two sons excel in their studies and sports.
