Kurt Schaefer

On land, structures, and in the water, Kurt delivers 27 years of experience over a wide range of geotechnical explorations and analyses. Some of Kurt’s recent work includes overseeing the geotechnical explorations of multiple bridges over the Ohio River, as well as tunneling projects like the Carver Tunnel Reconnaissance, in eastern Kentucky.  Kurt served as a senior geotechnical engineer for the Louisville District Corps of Engineers assisting in the construction/renovation of military bases across the nation. He is also a certified diver with over 110 underwater bridge and culvert inspections throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and oversees varying aspects of Stantec’s dam and levee work. He sees the geotechnical engineer as the great arbitrator between Mother Nature and the mankind’s need for infrastructure.
