Growing up with an interest in nature, the landscape, and ecological processes, it only made sense to Matthijs to study forest and nature management. That’s why he feels right at home as a soil and ecology consultant with our Environmental Services group. As a Dutch ecologist put it: Like a little owl in a small-scale landscape.
In his role, Matthijs researches flora and fauna and the habitats of various groups of species. He also works on projects that focus on making our living environment more nature inclusive.
When he isn’t outside for work, you’re still likely to find Matthijs outside—mountain biking, cycling, or playing football. He also enjoys board games with friends and long walks in nature.
