Mauricio has 20 years of experience in the mining, oil and gas, transportation, water resources, and research sectors. His work in tailings and mine waste spans all phases of engineering design, closure design, and regulatory applications. He also conducts risk identification, multi-criteria alternatives analysis, failure modes and effects analysis, dam safety reviews, and tailings technology development studies.
Leveraging his education and experience, Mauricio pursues challenging multidisciplinary projects across the globe—informing his advocacy for sustainable mining practices. He continues to draw upon his technical expertise to manage and lead projects on behalf of his mining clients. He's a licensed as a professional engineer in British Columbia and registered as a civil engineer in Minas Gerais, Brazil.
When he isn’t helping clients achieve net zero mining, Mauricio enjoys learning languages, listening to traditional music, and traveling with his wife and three children. Together, they’ve seen wild bears and moose in Canada, kookaburras and wallabies in Australia, and wild crocodiles and sharks in the United States.
