Richard is focused on providing planning advice—feasibility reports, planning applications, and input into planning regulations. He’s done work in commercial and residential development, but at Stantec he’s spent most of his time working on infrastructure consenting, especially for wastewater projects.
Richard's involvement in a consenting project trials a much more collaborative process with the client, regulator, local iwi, and community representatives in relation to the Porirua wastewater network and treatment plant. As it’s a local project—in Richard’s own community and relevant to the quality of the local beach—he’s also a stakeholder, and he’s looking forward to a more robust and effective project process.
On the weekends, you’ll probably find Richard playing football or mastering his latest hobby: surfing.
