A principal mechanical engineer, Tom has sixteen years’ experience on a wide range of energy technologies—predominantly pumped storage and conventional hydropower, solar photovoltaic, and wind power. Projects have taken him around the globe to the UK, Israel, Ireland, France, Spain, South Africa, Zambia, Nepal, Albania, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, and China. He’s fulfilled design and design review responsibilities, as well as project management and other technical advisory roles including risk and contract management.
Currently, Tom’s developing the employer’s requirements for the Coire Glas pumped storage hydropower project in Scotland. His responsibilities include contract documentation, resolving technical challenges, coordinating internal interfaces between mechanical, electrical, and civil issues, and liaising with client and bidders on technical topics.
Outside of work, Tom enjoys spending time with his family and is involved in setting up a Squirrels group (four- to six-year-olds) in his local area. When there is enough spare time in the diaries, he enjoys being in the outdoors, whether kayaking, climbing, running, or camping.
