In a career that has included over 25 years at the Environment Agency, Martin has extensive experience with environmental regulation in the industrial, waste, water, nuclear defense, and civil nuclear sectors. He worked with policymakers and legislators on the development of UK and EU legislation. In addition to developing and modernizing environmental regulatory approaches, he has delivered both the day-to-day and strategic operational regulation of nuclear power and nuclear defense sites.
As a technical fellow with our Energy group, Martin provides strategic advice and guidance on environmental regulations to enable clients to secure environmental permits and deliver cost-effective compliance arrangements. he also has experience with radiation protection having been both a Radiation Protection Adviser and a Radioactive Waste Compliance Adviser. He’s led the production of guidance to inspectors on technical standards for control of major industrial processes, the regulation of nuclear sites, non-nuclear users of radioactivity, and on performance reporting.
When he isn’t busy with work, Martin is occupied by his grandchildren and exploring both the arts and the environment.
