Derek has been with Stantec for six years as a crew leader and task manager with our Environmental Services business line. While with the Restoration team, he’s planned and assisted with the establishment and maintenance of native wetlands, prairies, and woodlands through herbicide application, mowing, mechanical removal, prescribed burning, and native seed installation projects across the Midwest.
His work has also included several stream restoration and bank stabilization projects, including the implementation of log and rock vanes using skid-steer and a mini excavator at Deer Grove West, Carl Hansen Woods, and Ojibway Park. Additionally, Derek has assisted in hydrology analysis and reporting, wetland delineation, aerial eagle nest surveys, and point raptor surveys.
When Derek isn’t working to restore the natural environment, you’d probably find him hunting, fishing, camping, snorkeling, playing rec sports, or spending time with his family.
