With experience across various sectors within the industry, Ryan has worked on residential developments, education estates, health care facilities, and high-risk buildings. He leads the mechanical, electrical, and public health engineering aspects of complex and large-scale projects. These include The Mercian—the tallest residential building in Birmingham, England, at the time of its completion—and inland surf parks around the world.
One of Ryan’s most memorable projects so far was the Two Bridges Special Education Needs or Disability (SEND) School. This was a net zero carbon (NZC) pathfinder project for the Department for Education (DfE) looking at the implementation of NZC principles within a new build school, ranging from embodied carbon to NZC in use energy demand. This project helped influence and guide the DfE Output Specification, which is used across the UK for DfE schools.
A dedicated mentor to junior engineers, Ryan takes great care in helping them to grow professionally, shaping their understanding of projects, and enabling them to succeed. In his free time, you’ll find him working on projects around the house, playing American football for the Bristol Aztecs, or coaching at the UWE Bullets American football team.
