Descended from a long line of carpenters, Carter always had a love for designing and building things. He pursued that along a path that took him from projects around his childhood home to a career as an architect.
Carter is equally passionate about education, both as a project type and the act of teaching and mentoring. He believes that mentorship of younger colleagues is important and actively participates in the ACE Mentorship program, growing his local group with a coworker from 30 students to over 100.
As a senior project architect, Carter has worked on a diverse range of projects. The one he’s found most rewarding to date was the University of Texas at Dallas Science Building. Through close collaboration with the University, he and the team designed a unique building with campus standard materials. Through the process he developed close relationships that he maintains to this day.
When he isn’t designing education projects or mentoring the next generation, Carter enjoys constructing his latest Lego set, cooking, baking—including deep dives into cake decorating—and woodworking.
