Doug is a registered professional engineer with decades of experience in analysis and design of transportation facilities. Although he enjoys all types of transportation infrastructure, he has a special focus on bridge inspection, bridge design, evaluation, rehabilitation, rating analysis and finite element analysis.
As a result of his extensive transportation design and inspection experience, Doug is thoroughly familiar with the guidelines, specifications, and procedures of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), among others, for the proper design of transportation facilities. He’s served as project manager and key structural engineer for numerous bridge design and inspection projects for various state DOTs and other government agencies. Doug has also authored/co-authored 11 bridge engineering publications, and he currently serves as the associate editor for the Journal of Bridge Engineering.
Outside of work, Doug enjoys spending time with family, walking, swimming, playing tennis, and gardening.
