With more than 25 years of experience in environmental consulting in ecological and environmental planning disciplines, Wirt has conducted plant and wildlife surveys, wetland delineations, and habitat assessments. He’s monitored mitigation programs and prepared environmental documents for a variety of projects through California.
He’s an expert on the California Environmental Quality Act and National Environmental Policy Act as they relate to the preparation of environmental documents, and he has a strong understanding of the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA’s) Environmental Guidebook, Caltrans’ Local Assistance Procedures Manual, and Caltrans’ Standard Environmental Reference.
Wirt’s experience managing water and wastewater projects in conjunction with his knowledge of the state and federal Endangered Species Acts and Clean Water Act Section 404 requirements for wetlands allows him to prepare effective environmental documents that fully satisfy regulatory requirements.
When he isn’t at work, Wirt enjoys spending time with his family—especially hiking and fly fishing throughout the northern California area that he calls home. Spending time within the various communities where he works enhances his ability to partner with agencies in developing infrastructure projects that minimize impacts to the local environments.
