With more than 30 years of experience, Rich brings proven expertise in flood mitigation design and river corridor improvement. Often in challenging urban environments along ecologically sensitive waterways, his projects have included reservoirs, levees, tunnels, and sewer systems for communities throughout the Upper Midwest. Focused on innovative approaches to reducing flood risk, Rich has also led the planning and design for channel realignment, ecosystem restoration, and floodplain enhancement initiatives.
The critical decisions in Rich’s projects typically involve the flow and spread of floodwaters. His background in river and drainage system modeling is helpful when developing flooding solutions and remapping floodplains. Clients appreciate his ability to shepherd complex projects through concept development, design, permitting, and construction.
When he’s not developing floodwater solutions, Rich enjoys playing ping pong with his wife, refinishing furniture for his kids, hitting the disc golf course, and walking his dog.
