Dave is an environmental scientist who fills a variety of roles for our Company. Based out of Salt Lake City, Utah, his primary background is in aquatic ecology, resource monitoring, compliance and permitting, and surface water hydrology. He has performed surveys for numerous aquatic and terrestrial species in a wide variety of environments, including temperate and tropical streams, lakes, wetlands, deserts, and forests.
The best part of his job? Fieldwork, in which he uses the data to describe baseline conditions, assist in resource management, and further the knowledge of species and their habitats. The most enjoyable work for Dave is usually also the strangest: nighttime snorkel surveys, nighttime owl surveys, or more recently, developing new environmental DNA techniques for rare fish.
Dave is proud of his involvement with the Virgin River Recovery Program, which aimed to help protect endangered fish species in southern Utah. When he is not conducting environmental surveys, Dave loves being in the snow. He prefers to be skiing or climbing peaks, but he will settle for any time outdoors he can get.
